The on-road bike race is a 35-mile loop consisting of beautiful rolling hills along the Flambeau River. Race is open to anyone who wants to safely participate in a self-imposed challenge with friendly competition. Early bird deadline is August 15. All pre-registered road race entrants receive a T-shirt. Water and fruit available before the race; free lunch after available to all racers. Special awards to the top three overall male & female finishers. Professional chip timing. Register online at Active.com or contact the Park Falls Chamber for a registration form. The time trial is a 12-mile out and back ride with the majority of the terrain being flat and straight starting at the Chequamegon High School, 420 9th Street North. Start times will be assigned sequentially as registrations are received. Professional timing. Water and fruit available before the race. Special awards to the top overall male & female finishers.

The day begins with a lecture/demo about plants you can grow or gather in this area to produce natural color on fabrics and yarns. The morning segment is open to all ages; children under age 10 must be accompanied by an adult. There is a $5 fee. In the hands-on workshop that follows beginning at 11 a.m., participants will sample ecoprinting and solar dyeing on silk scarves using gathered materials and natural dyeing on wool yarns with an introduction to mordants and modifiers. Workshop participants must be 13 yrs or older. There is a $30 fee; all materials are included. Registration required. Class size is limited. Call for details and to register.

All materials for each art opportunity will be provided. Plus tour the Keepsake Quilting Challenge Quilts on display in the studio along with works of art from the Helping Hands Quilt Club hanging in the park pines, and the 237 statues made by Fred Smith. Live music, a silent auction, and great food make this a wonderful event for the entire family. Stop by on your way between the Phillips Fall Harvest Festival and the Ogema Christmas Tree Festival.
