ATVing

Price County is known for its 200-plus miles of ATV trails.  If you don't own an ATV of your own, see the Recreational Rental info on the Parks page.

Shopping

Shopping is a favorite pasttime for many people and Price County offers a variety of unique opportunities. Shop owners and event planners in Park Falls and Phillips are ready to assist you in finding the perfect gift, for a friend or yourself. Our small-town charm makes for a great shopping getaway. Along the Phillips and Park Falls main streets, you will find many shops that feature unique gifts, antiques, health food, sporting goods, clothing and more; all within walking distance of each other. Tired shoppers can schedule a massage, nail treatment or rest their tired feet while dining at a local cafe or coffee shop. If you are looking for a unique shopping experience, you won't be disappointed!

Get hooked on Fishing

Fishing is a year-round event in Price County, except for March and April after the ice goes out until the first Saturday in May when the regular fishing season opens, and in November while anglers wait for the lakes to freeze for ice fishing. There are many lakes and rivers in the area that offer great fishing opportunities.  Visit a local bait shop to see where they're biting.

How about a day of sightseeing?

Price County has many unique and interesting things to see and do for a day of adventure.  Each season offers a new perspective for each of these points of interest. The Wisconsin Concrete Park is one of a kind in the country, check out the only glue-laminated Town Lattice covered bridge in Wisconsin, the Smith Rapids Covered Bridge, or go to Little Falls/Slough Gundy, a spectacular sight of huge boulders and rushing water with the peaceful elegance of a pine forest in the background.  Big Falls County Park, Dells of the Jump River, in Kennan is a great to relax and enjoy the outdoors.  This scenic river-edge park is located along the South Fork of the Jump River and is flanked by tall white and red pine with water cascading around huge granite rocks and provides a "wild river" atmosphere.

Our Northwoods is a Sportsmans paradise

A variety of hunting and trapping opportunities are available for the hunter and sportsmen.  Park Falls is known as the Grouse Hunting Capital of the World and white-tailed deer hunting is also a popular sport.  For a list of season and dates, go to http://dnr.wi.gov/org/land/wildlife/hunt/seasdate.htm. Take the Kids to an Arcade/Rec Room

Flambeau Lanes, Hwy. 13, Park Falls, has pool tables & arcade games in an area separate from the bar as well as bowling.  They also serve food and have booths in the rec area. 

The Corner Rock, Hwy. 13 & Division Street, Park Falls, is a youth outreach center for ages 12 – 18 which has game systems and other activities available for teens, plus Christian band performances. For more information, call 715-762-2180.

rEADY, aIM, sHOOT

Target Practice - Rendezvous With Nature, located at W9309 River Road in Lugerville, is a great place to test your archery skills in a natural outdoor setting.  For more information, call 715-339-2988 for more information.

Trap Shooting - The Phillips Sportsman Club invites anyone (men, women or juniors) who would like to come and try this sport or experienced shooters who want to get in some practice.  Guns, ammo and instructors are available at the range.  Regular team league is Wednesday evenings and shooting begins with practices in May and runs thru August, ending with a 100 bird tournament, picnic and fun shoot.  Fall League is on an individual basis and follows the summer league with Sunday morning shooting or Wednesday evening shooting on a lighted range.  For more information, call 715-339-4103.

Get a Workout

Northway Motor Lodge/Flambeau Lanes, Hwy. 13 / 1113 S. 4th Avenue, Park Falls, 715-762-2406, www.northwayml.com, has an indoor swimming pool, sauna, and fitness center. 

Curves for Women, Phillips, 715-339-6803, is located on Hwy. 13 / 598 S. Lake Avenue at the south end of town.

Learn About Area Agriculture

Golf - Driving Range

Each community in the area offers a unique golf experience.  Or you may wish to visit the driving range or play a game mini-golf.  A trip to the driving range is a fun and inexpensive way for beginners to get a feel for this sport.  No need to own clubs, they have them available. 

Swimming is always fun

Swimming pools are located in both the Phillips and Park Falls communities at the local high schools.   Park Falls also has an outdoor pool community pool.  Play around in the water or get a workout lap swimming or aqua jogging. 

Head for the beach

There are several nice beaches in the area.  Even adults can feel like a kid again when you take a trip to the beach.

Hike to the top of the highest point in wisconsin

Timm's Hill, located in the southern part of the county in Ogema at Timm's Hill County Park, is the highest geographical point in Wisconsin, with an elevation 1951.5 feet above sea level.  The observation tower on the top of the hill offers a spectacular view.   The park also offers a sand beach for swimming, hiking/biking trails that connect to the National Ice Age Trail, plus a dock for fishing.  The second highest geological point in Wisconsin, Pearson Hill, is approximately a 1/2 mile to the southeast with an elevation of 1950.8 feet.  There are numerous other trails in the area for hiking and biking.  The road to the park is not plowed in the winter, but there is an area for parking at the entrance and you can hike to the hill. 

Explore the area by Bike

There are numerous trails in the area for mountain biking as well as several routes for touring.  You may also wish to visit the Trek the Northwoods Trails website.

Canoe / Kayaking

Canoeing or kayaking is an awesome experience. The North and South Forks of the Flambeau River offers areas of flat water to whitewater, with something for everyone. You can also paddle the Elk and Jump rivers or take a leisurely paddle trip on an area lake. Whether you take a few hour or several day trip, area rental, shuttle, and guide services will make your trip enjoyable.

Take a Lama for a hike

Storybook Farms offers a unique experience called Lama Trekking.  For more information call 715-339-3614.

Visit a Farmers Market

Stop at either the Phillips or Catawba Farmers Markets to learn about or purchase some locally grown produce and a variety of other items. 

Shoot Some Hoops

There are basketball hoops located at each of the schools as well as at the Phillips Municipal Building located three blocks west of Lake Avenue on Eyder Avenue. 

Go Skating Boarding

There is a skate park located behind the Phillips Municipal Building three blocks west of Lake Avenue on Eyder Avenue. 

The skate park in Park Falls is located next to the Recreation Arena/Indoor Hockey Rink at 3rd Avenue North and 2nd Street.

Anyone up for a game of tennis?

Tennis courts are located in both Park Falls and Phillips.  The courts in Park Falls are located on 5th Street on the north end of town next to the outdoor pool.  The Phillips courts are located on County Highway W next to the high school. 

Take a Drive

Price County is home to two Rustic Roads as well as many other scenic country roads.  Located on County Road RR near Ogema, Rustic Road 62 is a 2-mile paved road which passes by two small lakes and Timm's Hill County Park, the highest geographical point in Wisconsin, and 13-mile Rustic Roads 105 is located on Forest Roads 144 & 148 in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest near Fifield with paved and gravel surfaces that offers wildlife viewing, forests, scenic farmland, views of the rambling South Fork of the Flambeau River and an opportunity to visit historic Round Lake Logging Dam.

The area offers many opportunities for wildlife viewing.  Visit a park , go for a hike, or visit a wildlife area for a chance to see wildlife in their natural setting. Winter

try Ice Skating!

There are both indoor and outdoor rinks located in Park Falls and an outdoor rink in Phillips, as well as hockey rinks at both locations.  For a unique northwoods experience, skate on the lake across from Highpoint Village Resort in Ogema.

Anybody can snowshoe!

Enjoy the peaceful beauty of winter on one of the many trails or in the vast public forest areas Price County has to offer.  The possiblities are endless.  See the web page for rentals and guides.

Cross-country skiing is Fun!

Cross-country skiing in our winter wonderland is an unforgettable experience.  There are eleven (11) trails in the area to choose from.  Visit the web page for rentals and guides. 

Snowmobiling Anyone?

Price County offers 500 miles of meticulously groomed trails. If you don't own a snowmobile of your own, see the Recreational Rental info on the Parks page. 

Sledding is a fun pastime

There is a large sledding hill near the Wintergreen parking area on Hwy. 70 east of Fifield.  Walk west down the snowmobile trail until you get to the big hill on the left, about 1/4 mile. 

If you have young children and are looking for a smaller hill, try the hilll behind Phillips High School or the hill by Duroy Lake (take the road that goes next to the Feed Mill Shoppes).  There are also a couple of medium size hills in the Industrial Park.
