Why doesn’t the state road get plowed 24 hours a day?
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation contracts with the Price County Highway Department to provide maintenance in the winter and summer months. The policies that govern maintenance are established by the state and followed by the counties. The state determines what roads receive 24-hour coverage based on the classification of each highway. Price County currently has a Class 4 and 5 road and the policy calls for 18 hours of continuous coverage.
