Septic System Overview
All dwellings connected to pressurized water must have a septic system. The three main types of septic systems are holding tanks and conventional and mound systems. The type of systems installed will be determined by conducting a soil test by a Wisconsin certified soil tester. Only Wisconsin licensed plumbers may install or repair a septic system. A sanitary permit is required prior to issuance of any new dwelling permit.
Dwellings with no pressurized water may install a privy (outhouse).
