Ways to use WI VINE
Although WI VINE was created with victims' safety in mind, it is available to anyone who wants to receive custody information about an offender in a county jail.
Ways to use WI VINE
- You can call or logon to WI VINE anytime to check the custody status of an offender.
- You can also register with WI VINE to receive automated notifications about changes to an offender's custody status. These notifications can be sent to you by phone and/or email, depending on how you complete your registration.
How to I get automated notifications?
- Register for WI VINE notification using which ever method is best for you:
- Using a touch-tone phone, call 1-888-944-8463 and follow the instructions to receive automated telephone notification. You can register for multiple telephone numbers. (See WI VINE Details for more information.)
- Register online at www.vinelink.com to receive automated telephone notification and/or email notification.
- If you register for telephone notification, you must select and enter a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
- When there is a change to the offender's custody status, WI VINE will send an email if you registered for email notifications, and/or will call your phone if you registered for phone notification.
- If you receive a call, listen to the message then enter your PIN when asked. This confirms that you received the call and stops the service from calling you again. WI VINE will continue calling until you enter your PIN or until 24-hours have passed.
- If you are not home when WI VINE calls, the system will leave a message on your answering machine/voicemail, but will still continue to call until your PIN has been entered or until 24-hours have passed.
*Do not depend only on the WI VINE service or any other single program for your protection. Make WI VINE a part of your safety plan.

WI VINE Details
-
- The WI VINE service provides release and custody status information about offenders in county jails. There is also a live operator available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week who can offer you further assistance if you need it.
- WI VINE is anonymous. The offender will not know you are registering.
- Since WI VINE calls automatically when an offender is released or their custody status changes, it is possible that you may get a call from WI VINE in the middle of the night.
- Do not register a phone number that rings to a switchboard (hotels, etc). Please consider registering a cell phone if this is the case.
- You can register more than one phone number with WI VINE. You will receive notification calls at all of the phone numbers you registered. Please remember that you will need to enter your PIN from each phone number you registered to stop the calls to that number.
- If your registration information changes, you must call WI VINE at 1-888-944-8463. Follow the prompts to update your telephone number(s). If you need to update your email address, press zero to speak with a VINE operator.
WI-VINE only applies to offenders who are under the custody of the sheriff/county jail. It does not include offenders under the supervision of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
